Take a Test: Gladue Assignment
ASSIGNMENT
Using the various lessons you have just learned take some time to write a Gladue Sentencing Principle report about yourself.
Remember there are no right or wrong answer since this is information about you. Here are a few helpful tips to get you started
- recall the community(ies) you grew up in; how did these communities influence who you are today; did they act or conduct business in a certain way, what was the community values, who do you think were the community leaders and how did they behave; What did you learn from these collective experiences; if you were going verify your experiences who would you ask?
- think about your family members and your relationship with each one; do you recall your grandparents; what life experiences did they have; how did it shape their relationship with your parents; did you have favorite aunties or uncles; did they teach you things that you use in your life today; think about the beliefs and values of your parents; how did they get these; what roles did yor parents play within the family and how did this impact you or your siblings; do you share the same beliefs and values as your parents; if you have siblings how did you grow up with them; do you remain close and does each of you have a role that you play in the family; if you wanted to validate memories or your assessment of your family who would you be most likely to talk with?
- so who are you.... no really who are you; can you describe your own strenghts and weaknesses; do you know how you came by each of these; is there things you would change about yourself; how would you go about making these changes; if you wanted... is there someone that you could share your personal assessment with to see if they view you in the same way?
Hopefully once you have completed this self directed assignment you have a better understanding of the process for interviewing, assessing and documenting the relevant Gladue Sentencing Principles.
