Obligation to Protect Sources

The Gladue Principle information being collected is not merely impersonal or impassive recollections, and is provided on the basis of trust of the person collecting the information by the Offender and his community.

With this trust is an obligation to protect the source of the information from ‘retaliation’ or damaging of relationships.

If you can’t protect the source of the information, then you don’t report it – you can try and get the information another way.
